 your rivals success can impact your success. If Sam can do it, so can you. He is your friend. The better your rival did last year the better you will do this year. If you can get your head on straight. The better your rival does the better you will do so you want everyone to do well. 

The better the field is, the better the field gets because everyone is pushing upwards. Don't be afraid of cheering for your competition. It makes them better

you trained with Sam and you helped to make him better. Friends and rivals. Race hard but be friends. Be competitive in an honorable way. Collaborative competition. Take the focus off yourself and support your competitors. Their success will push you to do better. Risk taker. No fear. Cooperation helps everyone succeed. Friendly rivalry, try to beat but don't undermine. Compliment their work. Reason to cooperate. Don't view your rival as competition. Form a common identity. you are part of a group to achieve larger goals. Bring everyone up. Don't go at it alone. You are all great racers.

How we handle emotions. If you are in cutthroat competition schadenfreude harm joy pleasure in another's misfortune. Friendly rivalry-

jealous or look at it differently as a victory for itself. At the end of the competition, you might feel conflicted. Joy for the other with a little envy but still celebrate your rival. Disappointed but happy for the opponent. Enjoy your teammates victory.

what do you respect about your rivals? It used to be accepted that Caiyu and Asa were at the top with Caedon in there as well and Caleb, Scotty, Ivan, Liam etc. 

Tucker has to get his confidence back. Understand he is still good and when he is confident, he gets on the podium. He did not get worse the competition got better. You have it in you. If you didn't you wouldn't have made it on to the podium at Gunstock and Super G. 

Success-4 top 10 finishes at the Super G races! including a 1st place run. It is in you. Gunstock-3rd place finish and a great run. Each DNF brings you closer to a better run. I know you don't agree but your Finals performance was solid considering your frustration. Still hit 4th in GS and 6th in Super G.

Steps to take to befriend rival-respect you are owed and respect you earned

owed respect comes first. You don't have to prove yourself. If you are a good enough skier to be here, you are respected. Don't act like you are better than others. Earned respect is merit based. This can cause others to act cocky.

Let me tell you about a bear, a skunk, and a hen. Day 68

 I am nearing the end of the challenge. One more weekend, 3 days of school, 1 more faculty day, and a lacrosse playoff game. I am a little undecided about whether I will drink on Friday night. I guess I have to see what happens.  Up at 4:47 still tired but I figured I needed to get up to get my walk before it got too hot and muggy  I had toast, 3 eggs, and coffee. Afterwards I took the dogs for a walk. It was already muggy and buggy. Gross. We headed out to the field then turned down icehouse so Ripper could poop in the woods. Well I turned the corner and saw a black thing in the road. I feel like it was a bear. It looked narrow but it was too slow and deliberate to be a dog. We turned and ran the other way. The black spot was still there. Finally when I took a break to walk the dogs pulled me to the right towards a clump of trees. Right there in front of me was a skunk with its tail up ready to shoot. One week later

For 60 hours, I let all the requirements of 75 Hard fade away. I had wine, margaritas, junk food and no workouts. It is time to get back to it. I have to make a decision about the 55k. Am I in?  I continued living large for the entire week post-75 hard. It has been wild. Friday was my final day. The kids were waiting for their big playoff game while I finished my checklist and cooked burrito casserole. The game was exciting with the bomb threat, change of venue, and the eventual big win. I had my margaritas and burrito casserole. We hosted Ricardo from Germany and Nomar from Brooklyn, who will be coming here next year. On Saturday morning, the boys had an easy practice, I did my long run, and we just hung out all day. I really don't remember what else we did... Sunday was Father's Day.
