One week later

For 60 hours, I let all the requirements of 75 Hard fade away. I had wine, margaritas, junk food and no workouts. It is time to get back to it. I have to make a decision about the 55k. Am I in?  I continued living large for the entire week post-75 hard. It has been wild. Friday was my final day. The kids were waiting for their big playoff game while I finished my checklist and cooked burrito casserole. The game was exciting with the bomb threat, change of venue, and the eventual big win. I had my margaritas and burrito casserole. We hosted Ricardo from Germany and Nomar from Brooklyn, who will be coming here next year. On Saturday morning, the boys had an easy practice, I did my long run, and we just hung out all day. I really don't remember what else we did... Sunday was Father's Day. We argued about what to do and finally said, let's go to Portland. It was a beautiful, cool day. We ate at the Port Hole (something like that). It was so delicious. I had fish tacos, Tucker h...

Day 70 End of week 10

After 9 hours of sleep, I got out of bed feeling hungover. I don't know if it is the air conditioner or what but this is two mornings in a row having a headache in the morning. Anyway...down to make coffee, play the in and out morning game with the dogs, and have breakfast. Took the dogs for a 2.5 mile walk around MOS. Then home to finish breakfast, another cup of coffee and water. Mobility, lift. I actually did a pretty good lift. Cossack, bench, bicep, tricep, back extension, pull down, and lunch with rotation. That is pretty good for me. I liked the focus and did not get bored too quickly.  Breakfast 2 eggs, 5 sausage, 1/2 bagel cut out with CC  770/32g protein  Lunch& dinner  4 jalepeno chick sausages, yogurt/honey cottage ch. cheese, avocado, bread 950 calories 75g protein  snack-coffee and protein cookie dough batter     150/6g protein  Total calories 1870 and 113g protein  After my morning workouts, I brought the kids to Linco...

Thoughts on 75 hard

I have read that some people feel amazing and indestructible when they finish the challenge. Well...that's not me right now. I am tired of this somewhat isolated living. My schedule for the past 68 days is as follows: 5am or around that time- get up, breakfast then walk or run.  6:30 quick shower, get ready, pack food, eat if not already 7:10 to work I skipped a few mornings early on but, later, especially with lacrosse season and schedule, I had to get at least one workout done in the morning. The hot weather made morning workouts even more important. Another thing I liked is doing my  No alcohol. I know that it has been really good for my health both mental and physical. The week or two before 75 hard I began to pay more attention to my intake. Rather than sitting around the TV drinking all night, I began to shut off at 7pm. It takes so much work just to live. That is how I feel at times. There is so much thought to not drinking.

Let me tell you about a bear, a skunk, and a hen. Day 68

I am nearing the end of the challenge. One more weekend, 3 days of school, 1 more faculty day, and a lacrosse playoff game. I am a little undecided about whether I will drink on Friday night. I guess I have to see what happens.  Up at 4:47 still tired but I figured I needed to get up to get my walk before it got too hot and muggy  I had toast, 3 eggs, and coffee. Afterwards I took the dogs for a walk. It was already muggy and buggy. Gross. We headed out to the field then turned down icehouse so Ripper could poop in the woods. Well I turned the corner and saw a black thing in the road. I feel like it was a bear. It looked narrow but it was too slow and deliberate to be a dog. We turned and ran the other way. The black spot was still there. Finally when I took a break to walk the dogs pulled me to the right towards a clump of trees. Right there in front of me was a skunk with its tail up ready to shoot. We got away from that before it was too late. THEN a hen skirted acros...

Thursday Day 67 almost there

After breakfast and my easy run, I weighed myself-123.5. That is crazy. That is a 15 pound loss in 67 days. 30 days I was 131.8 so about 8 pounds in 37 days. I bet I was losing too much. For some reason I was thinking that I have not been under 128 but then recalled when I hit 118 one year after consecutive illnesses in the fall. My pictures at Christmas were very lean. I bet it was 2013. Still nursing and just going non-stop. I think the calorie restriction can end as I wrap up this thing. With the hot weather, I want more cold drinks. A glass of wine sounds pretty good right now. I plan to stick to reading, walking, workout, and healthy diet whatever that is. The past few busy weeks, my diet has not been great. I really aim for the fruit or veggies whatever is available.   Watching the boys play their game last night against a Goliath put my current feelings in check. The boys were not the least bit excited to play. They were -10 at the start because of their mindset. Everyt...

Tuesday June 3 Day 65

10 days remaining. Yesterday we had a celebration for Tucker's birthday. I made steak, potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad and asparagus. They all had cupcakes and ice cream while I cleaned up the dinner dishes. It was a good day.  Tuesday-I woke up early thinking about my speed workout. I have been exhausted lately and did not look forward to the 10 minutes of speed for today's progression run. I did it anyway. Garmin had me running a 6:40-6:49 pace but I was happy to hit under 7 (6:59) I felt like I was working really hard.  Warm up with Shadow 2 miles plus mobility 10 min at 6.59 pace =1.43 miles then cool down It was a cool morning. My hamstring was feeling a little tight and I felt tired and slow. Happy that I got just under 7 pace.  Day was good. I had the 6th grade come up for step up and my classes just worked on a project. Came home and walked the dogs took campbell for D and D then watched the lacrosse game v Wells which the guys won.  Breakfast sour dough pean...

Sunday Day 63 on 13 more to go

I can believe it has been 63 days because it feels like I have been doing this a long time and I am tired. Although I got 8 hours of sleep, I woke up sore and tired. Up at 5 am and laid there enjoying my comfortable bed for another 30 minutes. I fed the dogs and got my coffee brewing.  Breakfast coffee, 3 eggs-1 yolk, dug out asiago bagel, cc                                  400 calories/25g protein      note asiago bagels are 360cal/18g protein digging out the center saves about 100 calories!  Lunch 2 eggs, black beans, wrap, cheese (110/6)                                                      360 calories 26g protein  Snack salad and chicken salad with evoo            ...

Day 62 Saturday

Yesterday afternoon, I was a nervous wreck. Tucker was not feeling well, and they had a pretty big game, insofar as every game is pretty big at this point.  Tuck tried to calm the boys by telling them that they were the underdog and that the other team should be feeling the pressure. Well they were gone, the game started at 6. I just wanted to be busy, so I did not focus on the game or worrying about Tucker having a melt down. Campbell and I went shopping and picked up something for dinner. That helped keep me entertained. Finally around 8:20 I got a text that they had won the game in overtime. phew. Tucker did not feel well and he was drained but no meltdown. The team told him to get his gear on and that they needed him. Sports are about learning. It hurts though when you are learning the lesson the hard way.  Got to bed around 9:30 and slept until 6. About 8 hours of sleep with a load of REM catch up. I took 2 ashwaganda before bed along with my HRT. Earlier in the day...
